ICAN MARBELLA 2012 has an airport/train free shuttle service for its athletes . Pick-up at Malaga Airport and Malaga train station and drop-off at Hotel El Fuerte. View bigger size By road You can get to Marbella by the Autovía del Mediterráneo A-7 (the A-7 Motorway) , or the Costa del Sol Toll-Highway (AP-7). A new connection by road to Ronda is soon to be constructed, which will considerably cut the Marbella-Seville travel time. The construction of the A-7 Underpass through San Pedro Alcántara will improve internal traffic circulation. In addition, there is a comprehensive bus service to the main capitals and towns of the country. By plane There are two important international airportswhich are less than an hour away by road:
- In the east there is the Pablo Ruiz Picasso International Airport of Málaga, about 45 kilometers away.
- In the west there is the Gibraltar International Airport, about 80 kilometers away.
Both airports guarantee direct connections to the principal cities of Spain, Europe, North Africa and the United States. The forthcoming Málaga Airport extension will allow for twice as many passengers, it already being among the three with the largest traffic in Spain. From Malaga Airport, there are several ways of getting to Marbella:
- A direct-line bus which links Malaga Airport and Marbella Bus Station, journey of around 45 minutes.Website. Click here to download current bus schedule (subject to change).
- A large number of car hire companies.
- Taxi service.

By train Marbella is ideally connected by bus both to Fuengirola station, 27 kms away, and to the one in the capital, Málaga, 57 kms away, which also caters for long-distance travel. From the latter, known as María Zambrano Station it is possible to use the high-speed AVE line linking Málaga to the network of major capitals: Madrid, Seville, Barcelona, etc. Further information on timetables and prices, go to www.renfe.es By sea Marbella has four marinas, set up for the arrival of medium-size boats and smaller vessels, as is the case with Puerto Banús. The Marbella Marina Extension Project will allow medium-sized cruisers to be received which will increase the possibilities of access to the town from the sea, as it is next to the entrance that serves as Málaga Docks. Lastly, its proximity to Algeciras and Tarifa, ports from which ferries depart, allow rapid access to the autonomous towns of Ceuta and Melilla and to towns in the north of Morocco.
