ICAN 62 Regulation

1. General

In these rules all the technical aspects of the test are included. The test will be refereed and regulated by the judges, who must approve the official results of the test.

2. Participation and insurance

Participation in Marbella ICAN 2012 is open to all people, whatever their nationality, gender, licensed or not and year of birth in 1994 or earlier. Each participant is part of the test individually. Under his responsibility should know if you have the physical and conditions for the disciplines of  the different segments that form the race.
Participants will be covered by insurance of federation and liability insurance contracted by the organization.

3. Security and medical care

The organization ensures the security and medical care during the race. This requires to be federated or acquire a temporary license for a day.

4. Distances of competition:

The three segments of ICAN62 are:

Swimming: 1.9 km. starting and finishing in Puerto Banus, in United Nations Avenue. There will be one lap to the circuit.

Cycling: 50 km. starting and finishing in Puerto Banus, in United Nations Avenue.  One round to the circuit has to be done, from United Nations Avenue to the AP-7 towards Estepona.

Race walking: 10 km. starting and finishing in Puerto Banus, in United Nations Avenue.  The circuit will pass near the promenade and the pier of Puerto Banus.  Two laps and a half must be done.

5.Participant identifying material

5.1 The athlete is responsible for their own equipment and must verify that their properties comply with this regulation. In addition, you should use, unmodified, all dorsal and identification elements provided by the organizer and approved by the Technical Delegate.

5.2 In the left arm and the vertical, as directed by the responsible official in this area.

5.3 The numbers must be clearly visible when its use is mandatory. They can be cut or bent. Their use in different segments are regulated as follows:

(I)          Swimming: Should be left in the transition area for control. Therefore it is not allowed to introduce into the water.

(II)        (II) Cycling: It is mandatory to use and should be visible on the back of the athlete.

(III)      (III) Race: its use is mandatory and must be visible in the front of the athlete.

5.4 The athletes can not compete with bare-chested except for the swimming segment. At all times the torso will be adequately covered. The two straps of the garment that covers the trunk must be properly placed on the shoulders. Advertising is allowed on the clothing of the athlete, if not hamper the work of identification and control of the officers.

5.5 The athletes carry visible identification sticker on the bike (back of the frame or seat post) and the helmet on the front and sides.

6. Start

6.1 All participants must be screened out before the swimming segment.

6.2 All entrants must be equipped with swimsuit, goggles, cap of the organization, number in the arm and the Champion Chip assigned to record test times. Participants will wear  chip in his/her  ankle during the entire competition.

6.3 No warm up  is allowed in the starting area, only in the lateral sides.

6.4 Stating time at 08:45.

6.5 The closing of the  control at 09:45 hours. Participants who have not passed the  control at this time will be disqualified.

7. Swimming

7.1 It allows the use of wetsuits in accordance with the rules of the Spanish Triathlon Federation. Not allow the use of gloves or boots.

7.2 are required to use swim caps provided by the organization of the test. With the number clearly visible.

7.3 You are obligated  to wear swim glasses.

7.4 Not permitted  the presence of helpers or companions during the course of the swimming segment.

7.5 The athletes who do not follow the official route or not properly passed by the buoys will be disqualified.

7.6  must leave the water in the area marked by the organization, to control the timing mat. Besides being a safety measure, is how to control the partial times of the race.

8. Transition 1 (swim-bike)

8.1 It should enter the transition zone along the route defined by the organization.

8.2 is forbidden to leave any material outside of the area designated for that purpose. Each rider has his. It is forbidden to leave objects left lying around.

8.3 You may not take off the clothes ,use the changing booth. 
Participants should leave the cap, goggles and neoprene  ifused .

8.4 Put on and fasten your helmet before moving the bike. 
Dorsal must be visible in your back.

8.5 You may override the bike racks, should follow the corridors established by the organization.

8.6 Non-cycling within the transition area, moving the bike to the starting line only by pushing. Cycling within the prohibited zone will be a yellow card.

8.7 It is forbidden to receive outside  help during the transition zone.

9. Bike ride

9.1 During the entire segment the dorsal must be visible on his back, placed with safety pins or rubber band. Not written on the back or made any modifications on it.

9.2 All athletes will receive a runners bag which  contains  a helmet sticker  that should be placed on the front.   Also another sticker for the bike to be placed in the frame or seatpost.

9.3 It is obligatory the use of  a helmet, according to the rules of the Spanish Triathlon Federation.

9.4 It is forbidden to use any device designed exclusively to reduce air friction.

9.5 Any unusual equipment will be subject to inspection and validation by the judges of the race.

9.6 The athletes should always move the right side of the road.

9.7 You may not stick to wheel racers to relocate just ahead (sticking to other races wheel) taking advantage  of the row in front.

9.8 The athletes must move independently while maintaining a distance of 7 meters in the direction of the race  and 3 meters along side with the other runners. A given reference is to the rear wheel of the bicycle that goes ahead and to  the front wheel of the rider behind.

9.9 The overtaking maneuver during which he is allowed to enter the drafting zone lasts 15 seconds. If after that time there has been no advancement is considered to have violated the rule. 
I know you can skip this rule for safety reasons, at the entrance and exit the transition area or in sharp turns and provisioning. 
A triathlete must advance quickly leave the drafting zone. 
Any violation of this rule will result in a yellow card, which means a sanction that is to stop for 5 minutes in the penalty area.

9.10 During the bike ride is not allowed outside assistance that promotes the advancement of the racer. Participant is required to reject any attempt to help, encouragement and monitoring progress. Otherwise will be punished.

9.11 The racers are responsible for repairing and maintaining their own bikes using only their own tools. Receive any assistance other than by the race organization is grounds for disqualification.

9.12 The runners will follow the instructions and all judges of the race as well as public authorities.

9.13 In case of  need, the rider can always walk or run with your bike and without interfering  the other runners.

9.14 At 13:00 will be closed the end of the segment control rider.

10. Transition 2 (bike – run walk)

10.1 The athlete should get off the bike before passing the pit entry line, indicated by a signal. Here are directed to their assigned area to leave his bike in boxes

10.2 The triathlete will pass over the carpet for  partial control of tempos.

10.3 The athlete must take off his helmet, change shoes, put on the back dorsal in the front of the body and leave  all the material in their assigned area.

10.4 Then will run to start the running segment.

11. Running Segment

11.1 All athletes must wear the race number clearly visible on the front of the chest, fitted with safety pins or rubber band.

11.2 No allow any type of movements, which  is not running or walking. It is forbidden to push or promote the progress of the athlete.

11.3  Only  support allows verbal or gesture from the lateral and never entering into the circuit. May not be accompanied by anyone who will set the pace. 
11.4 The athletes must follow the instructions of race officials and security agents.

11.5 The athletes must always move forward on the right side of the trail, without ever crossing the line of cones set by the organization.

11.6 The closing hours of race is at 15:00.

12. Penalties and disqualification

12.1Tarjetas penalty 
The judges will have different cards for different levels of sanction

Red card

Involves the immediate disqualification of the test. May be due to: clearly unsportsmanlike behavior, inappropriate attitude to race officials, any type of aggression, not to accept the rules and directions of officials, not wearing the back, using a shortcut, technical assistance or external, not respect the rules of the road race, drafting clear.

Yellow Card

Serves as a warning and involves a behavior change immediately. 
Yellow card will be cause: A bad position at the start, riding a bicycle in prohibited areas, wear the helmet without buckling in the transition zone, be accompanied by another person, place the bike correctly and other objects in the transition zone , urinating outside the portable toilets, blocking the way to the other runners, crossing the transition line on the bike, use a shortcut with the possibility of returning to the official point of the route, running bare-chested, so bring the dorsal Incorrect or defective equipment or clothing inappropriate to carry, use portable music players, mobile phones or radio.

12.2 The official race judges are obliged to punish any infringement when it occurs.

12.3 The athletes should not protest the penalties made by race officials.

12.4 Before an infraction of the rules there will be a verbal warning by the judge, indicating the number of dorsal and then teach him the card.

12.5 If an athlete receives a yellow card will make a stop for 5 minutes in the penalty box located contiguously to the transition zone.

12.6 If an athlete receives a red card, the judge will take the number and the timing chip in the same place where there’s a penalty. If the chip is proprietary, it will be returned after the race. All this means the disqualification and exclusion from the race permanently.

12.7 If the athlete receives a second black card equivalent to a red card which leads to disqualification.

12.8 If the athlete receives a second yellow card must comply with a second penalty of 5 minutes in the penalty box area. A third card regardless of color would a red card which means the disqualification.

12.9 The triathlete is responsible to appear at the next point penalty or penalty box. Failure to meet this regulation results in disqualification.

13. Doping Control

13.1 There doping tests among athletes who finish in positions involving the receipt of cash prizes.

13.2 The entry in the ICAN62 Marbella implies consent to undergo such tests if appropriate doping.

13.3 The non-negative result in the doping control is not receiving the prize money.

14. Complaints and appeals

14.1 It is possible to appeal a disqualification and the official results of a test. The protest can be written only in terms of a possible violation of rules by judges, not the judges’ decision is in itself a (de facto) incorrect.

14.2 The protests will enhance written in English or Spanish

14.3 The period of implementation of protests during the race day lasts until 18:30. The next day may be from 9:00 to 10:00. In the information center ICAN, upon payment of a deposit of 50 € in cash. This deposit will be refunded if the protest is upheld.

15. Teams

15.1 The team classification is made by adding the times of the  first three classified  as the final individual general classification federated and belonging to the same club.

15.2 For it is essential to register as a member of a club and being able to justify that owned by the federal license or assignment sheet. The top three teams receive a trophy and a gift by the organization.

16 .- Wetsuits The wetsuit will be allowed if the sea temperature is below 23 º C. If the temperature is 23 º C or higher, the wetsuit is prohibited. 
For the +50 age group is allowed at its discretion if the temperature is 23 º C or higher, and mandatory if  lower.
